Minority? No Punishment for You Then!

Well, the liberals strike again! This time it’s the DoJ! Yes folks, the same people that brought you “Affirmative Action” (the liberals), now want our teachers to go easy on minority students who act up in class. Why?

Simple. Because according to these folks, to treat all students the same; for a school to be evenhanded in its approach to disciplining students who break the rules and act out, is to take a racist approach to school discipline!

Huh? I’m kidding you say, right?

Nope! Sorry, but I’m not, folks! In fact, it comes from the DoJ (Dept of Justice) and they even consider it a violation of federal law.

Yes folks, the DoJ is actually claiming that it’s a violation of the federal law against discrimination based on race, to apply the rules equally to all students, regardless of their ethnicity!

Here, read it for yourself (all quotes from the provided link)…..

“Schools … violate Federal law when they evenhandedly implement facially neutral policies and practices that, although not adopted with the intent to discriminate, nonetheless have an unjustified effect of discriminating against students on the basis of race”, read the DoJ letter.

In other words, according to the DoJ, even though you adopt a policy designed not to discriminate, by treating everyone equally, you’re discriminating anyway!

HUH?!?

In other words, folks…

DoJ: “We know you mean well whitey, but by disciplining both white and minority students, you are being racist!

Now in case you’re thinking that it’s a matter of white staff meting out harsher punishments on minority students than on white students for the same infractions and punishing minority students more often that white students, that is not the case at all!

This is about school policies that have mandatory, specific punishments, for specific infractions, that are applied to all equally, regardless of ethnicity.

That’s what the word “mandatory” means, folks! :-)

That it is required!

I.e., the staff does not have any flexibility and there is no discussion between the staff members about how to punish the student who violated a particular rule.

I.e., Every single student who breaks “Rule X”, gets “Punishment Y”, period, end of story!

But the DoJ doesn’t like that idea!

“Examples of policies that can raise disparate impact concerns, include policies that impose mandatory suspension, expulsion, or citation (e.g., ticketing or other fines or summonses), upon any student who commits a specified offense, such as being tardy to class, being in possession of a cellular phone, being found insubordinate, acting out, or not wearing the proper school uniform.”

They claim (above) that it causes “disparate impact concerns”.

And exactly what are “disparate impact concerns???

Well folks, that’s just a pretty way of saying that it’s racist! :-)

And more specifically, that it will impact minorities far more than whites.

So there it is, in black and white! Treat all students equally and you’re automatically out to get minority students, which of course, makes you a racist! :-)

In other words, according to the DoJ, to make it so that everyone is treated equally by using a policy of specific mandatory disciplines for specific behaviors, is to be a racist!

Yes folks, believe it or not, there are actually people in the world who think that makes sense! :-)

But experts interviewed by FoxNews.com said punishments should be meted out to school kids who break the rules, without regard to their race.

Sounds good, right? Well, apparently it sounds fair and logical to everyone except the DoJ! :-)

And some of those experts said that if minority children are more likely to violate school rules, then going easy on them for disrupting class will only hurt their better behaved classmates, who are also likely to be minorities.

“They are right that expelling a student would hinder their academic performance”, Andrew Coulson, Director of the Cato Institute’s Center for Educational Freedom said to FoxNews.com. “But it is outweighed by keeping them in the school, as it affects the performance of other students.”

In other words, what the experts interviewed by Fox News are saying, is that if you don’t discipline minority students just because they’re minorities, that means that you end up leaving disruptive students in class, free to be disruptive with impunity and that causes harm to the other student in the class that have not broken the rules and are trying to learn.

I mean, what do you think will happen, once these minority students who break the rules and are disruptive in class, know that they can act up without any penalties? Do you think their behavior will get better? Or worse?

And what these people are not considering, is that racism does not mean “whites not liking minorities”.

For some time, when a minority was prejudice against white people, no one even thought to call that racism.

And then when, for example, a black person hated white people, folks began to call that, “reverse racism”.

But neither of those positions is true! Minorities can be racist and there is no such thing as “reverse racism”!

The truth is, that racism means any color, or white person, who is prejudice against another color, or colors, or against whites, because of the color (or lack thereof) of their skin.

And what the DoJ proposes, which is that whites should be disciplined in school, but not minorities, is racism!

You see, what the DoJ is taking issue with, is that there are more punishments meted out to minority students, than to white students. But that doesn’t mean that the school is acting in a racist manner.

When a school applies a policy that says that a disruptive act, whatever it may be, will be mandatorily disciplined in such and such a way and it applies to all students, regardless of ethnicity and you find that minorities are consistently being disciplined more than white students, that does not mean that the school’s staff is racist!

What it means, is that either minorities are acting out and becoming problem students more than whites, or, that there are more minorities in the school than whites and so, of course there would be more minorities disciplined.

Remember, the schools that adopted this type of policy, did so specifically to rid the school’s displine policy of racism!

I.e., “Don’t act out and you won’t be disciplined, regardless of the color of your skin. But if you do act out in such and such a way, then expect to receive such and such a punishment, regardless of your skin color.”

Exactly how is that not fair?!

Isn’t that the way it’s supposed to be and the way it always should have been?! How on God’s green Earth is that policy racist?!

The fact is, it’s not!

What would be racist, is folks following the DoJ’s recommendation of not disciplining minority students who act out in class!

What do we say to white students then?

“Of course our discipline policy is applied equally! As long as your white! Only whites will be disciplined, because we’re not racist at this school!”

White Student: “Huh? Duuuhhh… Okay!”

Speak out against stupidity, folks! :-)
